Fake Fair Go Apps and APKs: How to Spot One

Fair Go says its casino runs in the browser, with no app required. That one fact makes fake apps easier to spot: anything asking you to install "Fair Go" deserves a very hard look.

Updated · 6 min read · Facts checked against Fair Go's own pages · How we check

A fake Fair Go app is any app, APK file or install link that claims to be Fair Go's casino. Fair Go describes its casino as browser-based on iOS and Android with no app required (Operator claim, checked 8 October 2026), so you never need to install anything to play. That makes the rule simple: if something wants to be installed on your phone in Fair Go's name, assume it isn't from Fair Go until proven otherwise. Here's why that matters, how to spot the fakes and what to do if one's already on your phone.

Why a fake Fair Go app is dangerous

A casino brand is perfect bait. People who gamble online expect to type in usernames, passwords and card numbers, and they're used to messages about bonuses and verification. A malicious app can exploit all of that:

  • Steal your login with a copy of a casino sign-in screen, then empty your balance or change your account email.
  • Read your text messages, including one-time codes your bank sends to approve payments.
  • Abuse accessibility permissions to see what's on screen and tap buttons for you, including inside banking apps.
  • Draw fake screens over real apps, so a banking app you open looks normal but your details go elsewhere.
  • Harvest ID documents through a fake "verification" step.

Where fake Fair Go apps turn up

  • Links to APK files in Telegram, WhatsApp and Facebook groups promising a "Fair Go app" or an app-only bonus.
  • Websites ranking for searches like "Fair Go APK", with big download buttons and no connection to Fair Go.
  • Social media ads and posts with QR codes that lead straight to an install.
  • Text messages inviting you to a "VIP app" or "new mobile version".
  • On iPhone, links that ask you to install a configuration profile or trust an unfamiliar developer so an app can run outside the App Store.
  • App store listings with Fair Go's name or look-alike artwork from an unrelated developer.

Seven signs an app isn't from Fair Go

  • It asks to install unknown apps

Android's "install unknown apps" prompt means the file came from outside Google Play's checks. For a casino that says it needs no app, that's the end of the conversation.

  • The developer name doesn't fit

A generic, misspelt or unrelated developer name on a store listing is a giveaway.

  • It wants permissions it doesn't need

Access to your texts, contacts, call logs or accessibility services has nothing to do with spinning a pokie.

  • It asks for card details straight away

Especially before you've even logged in, or with a pop-up insisting your card needs "re-verifying".

  • It promises an app-only bonus

Fair Go's offers sit on its promotions page and in its cashier. An "exclusive app bonus" is a lure.

  • It looks slightly off

Stretched logos, odd spelling, a different colour scheme, or a login screen that doesn't match Fair Go's site.

  • It wants a profile on your iPhone

Installing a configuration profile gives whoever made it a degree of control over your phone. Never install one to play a casino game.

Already installed something? Do this now

  1. Disconnect. Turn on Aeroplane Mode so the app can't send anything more.
  2. Remove the app. On Android, go to Settings, then Apps, find it and tap Uninstall. If Uninstall is greyed out, look in the security settings for device admin apps, switch it off there, then uninstall. On iPhone, press and hold the icon and remove it.
  3. On iPhone, check for profiles. In Settings, then General, open the device management section and remove any profile you don't recognise.
  4. On Android, run a Play Protect scan from the Google Play app: tap your profile picture, then Play Protect, then Scan.
  5. Change your passwords from a different device: Fair Go first, then your email, then anywhere you reused the same password. Our password reset guide covers Fair Go's side.
  6. Call your bank if you entered card details or banking codes, and ask them to watch for unusual transactions.
  7. Report it to Scamwatch at scamwatch.gov.au, and keep an eye on your statements for the next few weeks.

The safe alternative: a home-screen shortcut

Everything people want from an app, an icon on the home screen and one tap to the lobby, you can get without installing anything. Open Fair Go in Safari or Chrome by typing the address, then add it to your home screen from the browser's own menu. Because you made the shortcut on the real site, it always opens the real site. Our step-by-step guides for iPhone and Android take about a minute, and our Fair Go app guide explains how browser play compares with an installed app.

Help others avoid fake Fair Go apps

If you find a fake listing in an app store, use the store's report option on the listing page. Report scam ads through the menu on the ad itself. And if a friend shares an APK link in a group chat, tell the group: the people sending those links are often victims who don't know their account has been hijacked. Fake login pages work the same way as fake apps; our guide to Fair Go phishing pages covers those.

Fake Fair Go app FAQ

Is there an official Fair Go app?

Fair Go says its casino is browser-based on iOS and Android with no app required. You play in Safari or Chrome, and you can add a home-screen shortcut for one-tap access.

Is a Fair Go APK file safe to install?

We'd never install one. Fair Go says no app is needed, so an APK claiming to be Fair Go hasn't come from Fair Go through an app store's checks, and it could be malware.

I found an app called Fair Go in an app store. Is it real?

Check the developer name and the reviews, and remember Fair Go's own position that no app is required. If in doubt, don't install it; the browser gives you the full casino.

I typed my Fair Go login into an app. What now?

Remove the app, change your Fair Go password from another device, change any reused passwords, tell Fair Go's live chat, and call your bank if you shared card details.

Can a home-screen shortcut be fake?

A shortcut you create yourself from the real Fair Go site is safe. Be wary of anything that installs an icon for you, such as a configuration profile someone sent you.
