How to Clear Cache and Cookies for Fair Go on Your Phone
Blank pages, login loops and games that won't start often come down to stale data your browser has stored. Clearing it takes a minute, and your account and balance stay exactly where they are.
Knowing how to clear cache and cookies for Fair Go fixes a surprising number of phone problems. Your browser keeps two kinds of stored data for every site: the cache, which holds copies of images, scripts and game files so pages load faster, and cookies plus site storage, which remember things like your login session. When either goes stale or gets out of step with the site, you see blank screens, endless redirects or a login box that keeps reappearing. Clearing them makes your browser fetch everything fresh.
Before you clear: just Fair Go, or everything?
Start small. Every browser lets you remove one site's data on its own, which logs you out of Fair Go but leaves the rest of your browsing untouched. Clearing everything logs you out of every website on the phone, from email to online banking, and empties the cache, so pages load a little slower for a while. Save the full clean-out for when the single-site fix doesn't work.
Clear cache and cookies on iPhone and iPad (Safari)
Fair Go only
- Open Settings. On recent iOS versions, tap Apps, then Safari. On older versions, Safari sits in the main Settings list.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Advanced, then Website Data.
- Wait for the list to load, then type fairgo into the search box.
- Swipe left on the Fair Go entry and tap Delete.
Everything in Safari
In the same Safari settings screen, tap Clear History and Website Data and confirm. This also clears your browsing history on any device signed in to the same Apple account with Safari syncing turned on.
One quirk: if you open Fair Go from a home-screen icon that runs in its own window, it may keep its storage separate from Safari. If clearing Safari didn't change anything, delete the icon and add it again from Safari; our iPhone home-screen guide shows how.
Clear cache and cookies on Android (Chrome)
Fair Go only
- Open Fair Go in Chrome.
- Tap the icon to the left of the address to open the site's settings.
- Tap Cookies and site data, or Site settings, depending on your Chrome version.
- Choose the option to delete the site's data, sometimes labelled Clear and reset, and confirm.
If you can't open the site at all, go through Chrome's menu instead: tap the three dots, then Settings, Site settings and All sites, find Fair Go's address and clear it from there.
Everything in Chrome
Tap the three dots and choose Delete browsing data (older versions say Clear browsing data). Set the time range, tick Cookies and site data and Cached images and files, and leave Saved passwords unticked. Then tap Delete data.
Samsung Internet, Firefox and Chrome on iPhone
- Samsung Internet: tap the menu button at the bottom, then Settings, then the browsing data or personal data section, and choose Delete browsing data. Tick cache and cookies only. More in our Samsung Internet guide.
- Firefox on Android: tap the three dots, then Settings, then Delete browsing data, and choose cookies and cached images and files.
- Chrome on iPhone: tap the three dots, then Delete browsing data, and pick the same two options. Chrome on iPhone keeps its own data, separate from Safari.
Menu names shift between versions, so if a label doesn't match exactly, look for the closest wording in the privacy or browsing data section.
After clearing: logging back in safely
Open Fair Go by typing the address or using your own bookmark, not by tapping a link from a message, then sign in. If your password manager fills in your details, that's also a reassuring sign you're on the real site, because it only offers logins for the address they were saved on. Forgotten the password? Our forgot password guide covers resets and lockouts. Any other sign-in trouble is covered in our Fair Go login guide.
If clearing didn't help
- Test in a private tab. A private or incognito tab starts with no stored data. If Fair Go works there but not in a normal tab, something stored is still interfering, so clear everything.
- Update the browser and the phone, then restart.
- Switch off content blockers for Fair Go.
- Check the bigger picture. If the site won't open at all, see our site not loading guide; if only games fail, see game not loading fixes.
On a shared phone or tablet
If a family member or housemate also uses the device, sign out of Fair Go when you finish and don't let the browser save your password. Clearing the site's data afterwards removes your session completely, so nobody else can open your account by accident.
Fair Go cache and cookies FAQ
Will clearing cookies delete my Fair Go account or balance?
No. Your account, balance and history live on Fair Go's servers. Clearing cookies only signs you out on that browser.
Will I lose my saved Fair Go password?
Not if you leave the saved passwords option unticked. Passwords in your phone's password manager are stored separately from cookies and cache.
Do I need to clear everything, or just Fair Go?
Start with Fair Go's data only. It fixes most problems and leaves you signed in to your other websites.
How often should I clear my cache?
Only when something's wrong. The cache helps pages and games load faster, so clearing it constantly means re-downloading files and using more data.
Does clearing the cache remove my Fair Go home-screen icon?
No. The icon stays. On iPhone, an icon that opens in its own window may keep separate data, so you may need to delete and re-add it if problems continue.
